Community Worker Matching Activity

This week the children are learning about community workers. Today, I introduced 8 community workers to the children; these workers included: vet, firefighter, police officer, doctor, dentist, mail carrier, construction worker & chef. The children were very excited to learn about the roles and responsibilities of each worker and the tools that they use.

Many of the workers that I introduced are the ones that the children like the most. For this, the children were very excited to learn about them.

For  this activity, the children were asked identify the community worker on each matt, discuss the tools they use, and match the velcro peice tools onto the correct matt. For example, they would put the hammer on the construction worker matt as opposed to the doctor matt.

This activity encourages chidlrne to develop sorting skills but to also better familiarize themselves with the tools specific workers use and the roles and responsibilities that each worker has to ensure that the community is safe.
