Remembrance Day Poppy Craft
It's important to teach children the story of the poppy. It is important for them to recognize the soldiers that lost their lives for their country. Children should be encouraged to wear poppies on remembrance day and should be given the opportunity to engage in activities that will further their understanding of the poppy.
For this week, I decided to take on the responsibility for making the remembrance day craft with he Kinders. The children made poppies with coffee filters, paint, buttons and pipe cleaners. The material was very sensitive, but the children followed instruction and were very careful when painting their filter.
The poppies turned out very beautiful. For this, I decorated the bulletin board with them. The children were given the opportunity to feel a sense of accomplishment and pride as they walked by their poppies each day.
